I officially changed my last name at work — from Chang to Meyer — after celebrating my one-year wedding anniversary.
It felt like a milestone in many ways, but also a surprising shift in identity. With one small change, my name no longer reflected what was once obvious — that I’m Chinese.
Yet rather than feeling like a loss, this change awakened a deeper longing to reconnect with my heritage — to rediscover the ancient wellness wisdom that has guided my family for generations.
Coming Home to My Roots
Simple, curious questions from my American husband —
“Why are you always afraid of being cold?”
“Why do you wear slippers at home?”
“What is that you’re eating?” —
helped me see how many of my daily habits came from traditions I had absorbed growing up in China, surrounded by my mother and grandparents — all Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctors and nurses.

This past year has taken me back to my earliest memories — learning how to press on 大椎穴 (Dazhui point) at the first sign of a cold, smelling the earthy aroma of medicinal herbs on the stovetop, and hearing stories of how balance, nature, and energy (Qi) guide all aspects of health.
I’ve been revisiting those roots through reading — from meridian theory and qigong to the I Ching — not out of nostalgia, but out of fascination. Despite being oceans apart from China, I feel like I’m coming home.

This blog, Radiant Qi Wellness, is dedicated to my family — especially my grandparents — for their unconditional love and for being my first wellness teachers.
My Philosophy
At Radiant Qi Wellness, I believe:
- Health is harmony — a balance of yin and yang, body and mind, energy and matter.
- Our bodies are intelligent systems, not machines — capable of healing if we listen and nurture them.
- Mind, body, and spirit are inseparable; our thoughts shape our physical reality.
What to Expect
Each week, I’ll share an actionable insight to help you become your most radiant self — whether it’s:
- a must-know acupressure point,
- a timeless beauty ritual,
- a mindset shift to restore inner balance, or
- a simple ingredient for higher energy or faster recovery.
Every practice I share is rooted in ancient wisdom and, where possible, supported by modern science. Having grown up between Eastern and Western cultures, I don’t see one as superior to the other. The most powerful approach often lies in the middle way, blending both.
